PARIS OLYMPICS: what you should know now
On Wednesday 23 gold medals will be awarded at the Olympics, with the majority of these going to athletes, but also sailing, artistic swim, boxing and skateboarding, as well as speed climbing and other sports.

HUDLES

SMARATHON SWIMMING
After being cancelled Tuesday because of concerns about water pollution, the familiarisation session was held as planned on Wednesday after water quality tests were met.
This is not a joke
Jacky Godoffe's idea to set a route fixed for speed climbing competitions was ridiculed by the international body of the sport in 2004.
The universal speed-climbing route, which the French pioneer climber created 20 years ago, will be a historical moment at the Paris Games. It is the venue for the very first Olympic medals in the sport.
WIGHT
The Indian Olympic Association announced that Vinesh Phogat, an Indian wrestler who was competing in the 50kg women's freestyle at the Paris Olympics last Wednesday failed to meet weight and so was removed from the competition.
Phogat was set to compete with Sarah Hildebrandt from the United States in the race for gold. She will no longer receive any medals.
SAILING
Mediterranean winds are unpredictable
On Wednesday, the finals of three Olympic sailing races will be tense. The officials will try to conclude the medal races for the women's and men's dinghy as well as mixed dinghies.
Men's and Women's Dinghy Sailors spent hours waiting for Tuesday's breeze to stabilize, but then saw the flags being raised to indicate that the medal races had been abandoned.
The Goat in the Boat
Lisa Carrington of New Zealand, the most successful Olympian in her country and the "GOAT" in the boat (Greatest Of All Time), begins her bid for the individual sprint kayak gold at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
