Olympics-Canoeing-Hotly tipped Hungarian pair miss men's K2 final

Posted to Maritime Reporter on August 9, 2024

Balint Kopasz of Hungary and Adam Varga, from the United States, failed to qualify for the 500m men's double kayak (K2) final. They finished fifth in their respective semi-finals to miss the final later that day.

The Hungarians had a comfortable lead for most of the race, with a tailwind providing some choppy waters. However, an American pair of Jonas Ecker & Aaron Small snatched the last and fourth qualification spot by just 0.15 seconds.

Germany's Jacob Schopf, Max Lemke and Bence Nadas won the heat. Hungary is still in contention for a medal after Bence Nádas and Sandor Totka finished second ahead of Czech Republic.
