Olympics-Canoeing-Carrington leads New Zealand four to kayak gold
Lisa Carrington, from New Zealand, led the women's four-person kayak crew to victory at the Vaires sur Marne Nautical stadium on Thursday. She now has six Olympic golds to her name and one bronze.
Germany was second, and Hungary came third, but the Kiwis were the winners, as Carrington, the most decorated Olympian in New Zealand's history, celebrated by slapping their hulls after crossing the finish line.
Liu Hao of China and Ji Bowen, from the United States, won the double canoe race for men at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in 1:39.48.
Italy took the silver in 1:41.08 and Spain the bronze in a close finish.
The final race for the medals was won by the four-man German kayak team, who beat Australia in the 500 metre final race by just four hundredths of second. Spain took the bronze.
