Olympic kiteboarder from Slovenia penalized before the final on Friday

Posted to Maritime Reporter on August 9, 2024

Toni Vodisek, a Slovenian kiteboarder, was penalized on Friday after failing to inspect his kit before going out on the water. This means that if Toni wins the next race in the Olympic final then it won't count. Instead the winner will be the person who finishes second.

Vodisek (24), who has two victories in the final of the first-to-3, heads Singapore's Max Maeder (17), and Austria's Valentin Bontus (23) who each have one victory in the medal series.

Riccardo pianosi, 19 years old and from Italy, has yet to win any races.

The lack of wind in the Mediterranean has forced race officials to postpone the final race of the Olympic sailing event. (Reporting and editing by Ken Ferris; Alexander Smith)
