Officials say that Russia has launched a drone attack against a Ukrainian port which provides access to the Black Sea.

The Russian drone attacked the Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv, which provides access to the Black Sea for the country. It also struck Kryvyi Rih. Ukrainian officials claimed that this was the biggest drone strike on the city in the war.

On Tuesday, the United States and Russia reached separate agreements to stop their respective attacks on each other over the Black Sea. It was unclear when or how these deals would be implemented.

According to the mayor of Mykolaiv, there were power outages in the city early on Wednesday morning. This was after the governor of the region reported that seven drones had been destroyed over the course the night.

The power cuts did not appear to be a precaution or the result of an overnight attack in Mykolaiv.

The head of the military administration of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine said that Russia attacked the city, causing fires, damaging buildings, but no deaths.

Oleksandr Vilkul wrote in the Telegram app that this was the biggest drone attack against the city during the war. "Most important, there were neither deaths nor injuries."

We could not independently confirm the reports coming from Mykolaiv or Kryvyi Rh. It was not immediately known the size of the Kryvyi-Rih attack or what it targeted.

Vilkul reported earlier that at least 15 blasts had occurred in Kryvyi Rih. This is the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and is a common target for Russian attacks.

The Russian Defence Ministry did not immediately comment, but it said that their air defence units had destroyed nine Ukrainian drones over night, including two in the Black Sea. Reporting by Lidia Kelley, Ron Popeski, and Oleksandr Kozoukhar. Editing by Chris Reese & Lincoln Feast.
