Officials in Sri Lanka welcome Adani's investment opportunities
The spokesperson for the Sri Lankan cabinet said that the country has not changed its position on doing business in India with the Adani Group, and it welcomes any investment opportunities offered by the conglomerate.
U.S. prosecutors indicted Gautam Adani and other top executives from Adani Green last year over their alleged involvement in a $265-million scheme to bribe Indian government officials in order to secure solar energy deals.
Adani, the executive team and its directors have all denied any wrongdoing.
Sri Lanka has said that it is "unconcerned", however, about the group's dealings in other countries.
The cabinet spokesperson stated that Sri Lanka "remains firm" in negotiating the purchase costs of the power generated by the two wind power projects Adani had withdrawn from. (Reporting and writing by Uditha Jayasinghe; editing by YPrajesh).
