Norway Police arrests ship on suspicion Baltic Sea cable damage
Norwegian police announced on Friday that they arrested a Norwegian vessel with a Russian crew, on suspicion of causing damage to an optical cable in the Baltic Sea.
Tromsoe police, in Tromsoe city, north of Norway said that the arrest was made at the request by Latvian authorities.
The police released a statement saying that they suspect the ship of being involved in serious damage caused to a fiber cable between Latvia and Sweden in the Baltic Sea.
Police said that the Norwegian owned and flagged Silver Dania vessel had been sailing between St. Petersburg, in the Baltic Sea, to Murmansk, in the Russian Arctic. (Reporting and editing by Stine Jacobisen, Terje Solsvik)
