Jordan purchases 60,000 metric tonnes of wheat through a tender

Posted to Maritime Reporter on June 11, 2024

In an international auction held on Tuesday, Jordan's state grain buyer bought about 60,000 metric tonnes of hard milling whey from optional origins.

They said that it was estimated to have been purchased from CHS for $271.95 per tonne cost and freight, with shipment scheduled in the second half July.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

The following trading houses made estimated offers per ton in the tender: Cargill, Viterra, Cerealcom Dolj, Al Dahra, Grain Star, Ameropa, Buildcom, The Andersons, Agro Chirnogi, and Cerealcom Dolj.

Agro Chirnogi was not reported as participating earlier.

Jordan has rejected wheat tenders and refused to purchase any in April, may and June.

Jordan has been hit hard by the sharp increase in wheat prices that began late April, sparked by concerns about damage to Russia's harvest due to weather.

The price of wheat has dropped sharply in June after Turkey, a major buyer announced on Friday a temporary ban on imports. (Reporting and editing by Jason Neely; reporting by Michael Hogan)
