Jordan does not purchase 120,000 T of barley, traders claim

Posted to Maritime Reporter on October 9, 2024

European traders claim that Jordan's state grain purchaser is not believed to have purchased any barley in the international tender for animal feed barley, which closed on Tuesday.

The trading houses that participated were believed to include Viterra, Ameropa, and Olam.

Jordan is expected to issue a new tender for 112,000 tons of feed barley in the coming days, with a deadline of Oct. 16 traders have said. A new tender will likely seek the same shipping periods as Wednesday's tender, in the second and third halves of December 2024 and the first and second halves of January 2025.

Jordan did not purchase barley in its previous bid for 120,000 tonnes of barley, which was held on October 2. Michael Hogan reports.
