Jordan does not purchase 120,000 T of barley, traders claim
European traders claim that Jordan's grain buyer, the state-owned company, is not believed to have purchased any barley in the international auction for animal feed barley (120,000 metric tonnes) which ended on Wednesday.
Only two companies participated: Ameropa and Viterra.
Jordan is likely to issue a new tender in the coming days for 120,000 tonnes of feed barley that will close on August 14, according traders. According to traders, the new tender will seek the shipment of feed barley in September and October for the entire month.
Jordan did not purchase barley in the previous bid for 120,000 tonnes on July 31, 2011. Jordan also published a separate bid on Wednesday to purchase 120,000 tons wheat, which will close on August 13. Michael Hogan reports.
