Italian prosecutors are investigating officials in connection with the Cutro shipwreck of migrants
On Tuesday, prosecutors in Crotone, a southern Italian city, informed four officers of the police and two members of its coastguard that they could face additional action for a shipwreck involving migrants that claimed the lives of at least 94 individuals.
In a statement, the prosecutors stated that they believed the six officials -- two from the Coastguard and four members of the Guardia di Finanza force - may be charged with multiple murder and negligence for contributing to the shipwreck in early 2013.
According to Italian law, after completing their investigation, prosecutors must ask the judge if they should call a formal court trial.

Authorities have also focused their attention on the officials who are suspected of having made mistakes during the rescue operations after the ship was discovered at sea.
