Israeli forces kill seven Palestinians, including two militants, in West Bank raids
Officials from both Israel and Palestine confirmed that seven Palestinians were killed, including two militant leaders and a woman. The raids targeted gunmen in the West Bank occupied.
In the city of Tulkarm there was an Israeli raid. There were street fights between Palestinian militants, and Israeli soldiers.
According to Palestinian sources, two militants were killed: one was from the islamist group Hamas, and the other, a member of Fatah, the rival faction. Also, a woman died, according the Palestinian Health Ministry. Two other deaths were not immediately identified.
A spokesperson for the Israeli military said that an airstrike was launched against militants in the area, and that there were still ongoing exchanges of gunfire.
Two Palestinians have been killed by a separate attack near Hebron, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The ministry did not reveal their identities.
Even before Hamas launched its attack on southern Israel on October 7, which sparked off the Gaza war, violence in the West Bank was on the rise. Over 500 Palestinians including militants have died in clashes on the West Bank since then.
