Indonesia to issue copper export permits for Freeport, Amman, authorities states

Indonesia will issue copper concentrate export allows for miner Freeport Indonesia and Amman Mineral Internasional, a trade ministry authorities stated on Friday, guaranteeing that exports by both companies would not be disrupted.

Freeport's and Amman's current export permits end on Friday.

The permits will work from June 1, Budi Santoso, the trade ministry's director general of global trade, without revealing more information.

Budi stated both business will be allowed to export till Dec. 31.

Indonesia prohibited deliveries of all raw minerals from June 2023, but Freeport and Amman were given a year-long dispensation to export their copper concentrate to allow the miners more time to complete the building and construction of their smelters.

Both business have considering that lobbied the federal government for another extension, arguing that their smelters would not reach full capability by next month.

On May 8, President Joko Widodo said the federal government would extend Freeport's and Amman's export allows, but did not provide information.

Freeport and Amman did not instantly respond to a request for remark. Amman earlier this week stated it was still waiting for its new export permit.
