In Libya, protesters disrupt oil loading at Ras Lanuf and Es Sidra ports

Posted to Maritime Reporter on January 28, 2025

Five engineers at the facility said that local protesters stopped the loading of crude oil onto tankers in the ports of Es Sidra and Ras Lanuf, Libya, on Tuesday.

In a letter addressed to the state-run National Oil Corporation of the country last week, protesters called for the relocation of various oil company headquarters in the Oil Crescent Region, and demanded a fair development to their coastal area, to improve living standards.

Previously, protests disrupted oil production. In January of last year, they forced the shutdown of Sharara oilfield. Reporting by Ayman Warsfali and Jana Choukeir, Editing by Jacqueline Wong, Saad Sayeed and Kirsten Donovan
