Port of Brownsville along the U.S./Mexico border announced on Wednesday it would restrict ship traffic because of hurricane Beryl's gale-force winds. Beryl is a Category 4-hurricane heading towards the Gulf.

Michael Davis, the Harbor Master of Port Brownsville, stated that only vessels who will be able finish and sail before Friday night or early Saturday morning will be permitted to enter.

The port has issued a notice stating that all river barges must depart by noon on Friday. Vessels remaining in port will also need to double their lines and anchor themselves properly.

Davis said that normal operations should resume Tuesday.

Port of Corpus Christi has increased its Hurricane Readiness Level to Hurricane Readiness Level 3. This is due to the anticipated tropical conditions in Gulf of Mexico.

The port's notice stated that it "continues to monitor potential impact scenarios" for the system developing in the Coastal Bend area.

The U.S. Coast Guard has implemented Port Condition Whiskey between the Colorado locks and the U.S. Mexico Border, including the port of Corpus Christi.
