Five Ukrainians killed by Russian shelling, and one on the Russian side of the border
Officials said that Russian shelling on Saturday killed at least 5 civilians in different regions of Ukraine.
Officials in Kherson, Ukraine's southern region, said that three people had been killed: one in the administrative center, also known as Kherson, another outside of the city, and a third near Beryslav in the north.
The Kherson region had been occupied by Russian troops in the early days of the February 2022 invasion. However, Ukrainian troops retook large areas of the area later that year. Russian troops continue to bombard Ukrainian-held territories from new positions.
The Ukraine prosecutor's Office reported that a 14-year old boy died and 12 others were wounded in a rocket strike on Hlukhiv. This small town is located in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine, which is frequently attacked by Russia.
Just after noon, the attack on a town near the Russian Border hit apartment blocks and houses, as well as an educational institution, shop, and vehicles. Six of the injured were children.
Oleh Simiehubov, the governor of Kharkiv, another Russian target in the east, said that a person was killed after a home near Chuhuiv, which is surrounded by Russian troops, came under fire.
Vyacheslav Gladov, the regional governor of southern Russia's Belgorod Region, said that Ukrainian shelling and drone strikes had killed and injured one person and damaged homes, other buildings and homes.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that air defence units destroyed two drones in the area late Saturday.
