Fire extinguished on oil tanker safely moored in northern German port
The city of Rostock said that maritime rescue services and firefighter in Germany's Baltic Sea extinguished an oil tanker fire and brought it safely into its port.
The ship is safely moored...there's no fire. "The tanker was dragged in Rostock's overseas port early this morning," read a statement posted on the town hall website. The cargo was unaffected.
On Friday, an explosion occurred aboard the 73-metre tanker Annika with a German flag, which was carrying 640 tonnes oil.
The statement stated that divers were checking the hull for any possible deformations or fractures. The ship will be inspected by police and marine investigators to determine the cause of fire. Reporting by Vera Eckert, Editing by Peter Graff
