Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners buys Morecambe Wind Project

Posted to Maritime Reporter on February 26, 2025

The fund manager announced on Wednesday that Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners had agreed to purchase an offshore wind project from COBRA Group and Flotation Energy in Britain.

Morecambe is a 480 megawatt offshore wind project located in the Eastern Irish Sea, off the coast of Lancashire.

The project will be able to provide enough power for over half amillion households. The project lease has been secured as part of a UK offshore leasing round for 2021, and planning applications have also been submitted.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Flotation Energy will continue to be involved in the project as a partner after the deal.

As part of its efforts to combat climate changes, the British government plans to deploy 43-50 gigawatts of offshore wind power by 2030.
