THE SENATE

No session.

On Friday, August 10, the Senate has a pro-forma session. Other pro-forma sessions will be held during its current period of break in August: on Aug. 13, at 9:15 am; on Aug. 16, at 10 am; on Aug. 20, at 8am; on Aug. 23, at 11:45 am; on Aug. 27, at 9am; on Aug. 30, at 11am; on Sept. 3, at 2pm; and on Sept. 5, at 12:45 pm. On Sept. 9, at 3 pm, the Senate will reconvene to continue its consideration of Adam Abelson's nomination to the U.S. District Judge for District of Maryland.

Committees

The SENATE's HOMELAND SECURITY and GOVERNMENTAL AFFILIATIONS Committee held a hearing at 11 am in New London. It was titled "Coast Guard whistleblowers: sexual assault and harassment." U.S. Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer 4 Julian Bell, U.S. Coast Guard YP1 Crystal Van Den Heuvel and retired Coast Guard Lieutenant testify. Tina Owen, retired Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer 4 Shawna Ward and Meghan Loren Klement are all witnesses.
