CNBC, citing a spokesperson for the company, reported Tuesday that Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk had mitigation plans in place in order to minimize or avoid any disruption in its production caused by sea port strikes in United States.

Reports added that the maker of popular drugs Wegovy and Ozempic plans to ship their products to and from U.S. via Air Freight.

Novo has not responded to the request for comment immediately.

According to the report, the company imports semaglutide (its active pharmaceutical ingredient) into the U.S., for its blockbuster diabetic drug Ozempic, and its weight-loss treatment Wegovy.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said on Tuesday that its preliminary analysis indicated that a strike of dockworkers on the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast should only have a small impact on essential goods, such as medicine and medical devices.

After wage negotiations broke down, dockworkers started their first major stoppage in almost 50 years. They halted about half of the ocean shipping for the country.
