CMA CGM, the shipping giant, signs AI agreement with Google
The French shipping and logistic company CMA CGM announced Thursday that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Alphabet’s Google in order to accelerate the deployment of AI across all its global operations.
CMA CGM strives to improve efficiency and reduce delivery times by optimising routes, container handling and inventory management while reducing costs and carbon emission.
Rodolphe Saade, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM, called the partnership "a crucial step" in CMA CGM’s transformation strategy.
Sebastien MISSOFFE, CEO of Google France, said that Google's "infrastructure and data expertise" as well as its "long-term AI approach" will help CMA CGM grow.
CEVA Logistics will use Goole AI management tools in order to better plan and predict operations at its warehouses by using volume and demand forecasting.
CMA CGM’s media arm will create tools to help its journalists synthesise, translate and generate media clips for social networks. It will also facilitate digitisation of archives and research. (Reporting and editing by Jason Neely; Piotr Lipinski)
