Canadian Finance Minister: G7 is united, but tensions still remain over tariffs
Canada's Francois-Philippe champagne, Canada’s Finance Minister said Thursday that the Group of Seven biggest economies remain united but there are tensions between them over the tariffs imposed by the United States.
Champagne said at a briefing on Thursday about the G7 meeting in Washington that Canada must fight against U.S. Tariffs which affect a large part of Canadian products.
Champagne stated that he could not schedule a meeting with U.S. Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent to discuss tariffs, but that they had interacted during the G7/G20 meetings which were held in conjunction with the spring meetings of both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group.
