BAE: UK, Japan and Italy's GCAP Project heading to next phase "at pace"

BAE Systems' managing director stated that the Global Combat Air Programme, a joint venture between Britain and Japan to develop a new fighter aircraft, will be launched in 2025.

Keir starmer, British Prime Minister Keir said earlier in the day at the Farnborough Airshow that he wanted "to put on record" the importance GCAP. This was to dampen speculation that it could be scrapped following a review of defence.

Herman Claesen from BAE, who is working on GCAP at the airshow, spoke at a joint press conference with Japanese and Italian counterparts. He said that GCAP’s industrial construction phase is nearing completion. (Reporting and writing by Paul Sandle; editing by Sachin Ravikumar).
