After power outage, VTTI oil terminal Rotterdam returns to normal operations

Posted to Maritime Reporter on September 3, 2024

VTTI’s oil storage facility in the Europoort region of the Port of Rotterdam is back to normal after a power failure at the port impacted it for a few hour earlier on Tuesday.

Sources close to the issue said that the Service Terminal Rotterdam facility in the Botlek section of the port had not been affected by the power outage.

The VTTI Terminal is primarily responsible for the storage and distribution of diesel fuel, while the Service Terminal is mainly in charge of the storage and distribution of marine fuels. The Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp area is the largest oil trading and storage hub in Northwest Europe. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens, Robert Harvey)
