According to traders, Lebanon purchases about 63,000 T of wheat from Ukraine.
European traders reported on Thursday that the Lebanese Government is believed to have bought about 63,000 metric tonnes of wheat at a tender. All were expected to come from Ukraine.
Wheat was needed for quick shipment to Lebanon.
The purchase included 57,000 tons at an estimated $248 per ton free out c&f with 7,500 tonnes for immediate shipment, followed by 43,000 tons by June 25, and 6,500 by July 15.
A further 6,000 tons were purchased at $247 per ton C&F free out for shipment on July 18.
The World Bank is providing the financing for the purchase as part of a continuing program of wheat purchases in order to help Lebanon with its financial difficulties, they stated.
The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later. Michael Hogan is reporting.
