Drying Cabinets Handy On Board Nexus
In 2014, Pronomar equipped Van Oord’s offshore cable laying vessel Nexus with three drying cabinets, each responsible for the drying of eight sets of workwear. Nexus, a 126-meter Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 8500 cable laying vessel was delivered to Van Oord in December and is currently being finalized at Damen Shiprepair at Vlissingen, where Van Oord is building and installing the additional cable laying equipment.

Ferus Smit Launches Nordana Sky
Ferus Smit launched multipurpose vessel Nordana Sky in Leer on February 21. Nordana Sky, built as yard number 417, is the first in a series of six that will be delivered to Symphony Shipping. The ship will be chartered out to the Danish company Nordana and sail in her fleet after delivery, planned for the end of March 2015. Nordana Sky is the first vessel of the builder’s new ecobox design, characterized by its flexibility of loading combined with very economical and ecological performance.

BAE Systems Gets $1.3b for New UK Warships
The U.K. Ministry of Defense has signed a $1.3 billion contract with BAE Systems for equipment to build the next generation of warships for the British navy, Prime Minister David Cameron announced today. Concordia Maritime Boosts Suezmax Market Presence
International tanker shipping company Concordia Maritime has signed an agreement to charter 50 percent of a vessel in the Suezmax crude oil segment for a period of one year from August 2015, with an option for an additional year. The Suezmax tanker has a deadweight of 158,000 mt and was built in South Korea in 2012. Construction Vessel Delivered to Eidesvik Offshore
Eidesvik Offshore has taken delivery of Viking Neptun, an offshore construction vessel from Kleven Verft AS. Statoil Exercises Skandi Vega Option
DOF ASA announced that Statoil has exercised its first one year option for the 2010-built anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) Skandi Vega. The option also includes ROV, DOF ASA said, noting that the vessel is firm until mid-May 2016. Skandi Vega is an anchor handler/construction vessel of Aker AH 04 CD design with approximately 350 ton bollard pull.

CMA CGM Box Ship is the Largest to Call Brazil
Containership CMA CGM Tigris, one of the newest vessels in the CMA CGM fleet, is due to call the Port of Santos on February, 6, making the French shipping company the first carrier to introduce a vessel of such a capacity in Brazil, the CMA CGM Group announced today. The 10,622 TEU CMA CGM Tigris will be added to the fixed-day and weekly SEAS2 service, calling 13 ports to connect Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa – all within 90 days.

Oil Platform Ablaze in the Gulf of Mexico
Fire broke out on an unmanned oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico approximately five miles south of Port Fourchon, La., the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) reported. BSEE is responding to the damaged unmanned platform in South Timbalier (ST) Block 27.
