Brunswick GA's IAP Moves 5 Millionth Vehicle
International Auto Processing at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia, handled it's five millionth vehicle, Georgia Ports Authority announced yesterday. The five millionth vehicle was a silver Hyundai Genesis that arrived on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel Isolde. "In 2014, we handled more than 450,000 vehicles," said Robert Miller, president and CEO of International Auto Processing. Imports arrive from Europe, Asia and Mexico. Exports account for about a third of IAP's volume.
DNV GL Opens US Technical Helpdesk
DNV GL has opened the American hub of its technical helpdesk in Houston, the organization announced today. DNV GL, a Norway-based international classification society, now has 400 technical experts worldwide providing answers to customer questions across Europe, Asian, and American time zones. “Our classification customers tell us they want timely, authoritative and insightful answers to technical questions," said Jan Solum, who leads the new Technical Helpdesk Team in Houston.
MTNW Discontinues Sale of LCI-80 Line Control Display
MTNW has discontinued the sale its LCI-80 Line Control Display, the company announced yesterday. Technical support and service will continue to be available for in-service equipment. The LCI-80 will be replaced by the LCI-80x Rugged Programmable Controller. Designed as a replacement for panel meters and analog gauges in rotational sensor applications, the LCI-80 displayed line speed and payout parameters on an electroluminescent (EL) display.
Parson Brinckerhoff names new Dir. of Ports & Marine Western Div.
Robert Johansen has been named Director of the Ports & Marine Western Division at Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and design firm. Johansen will be responsible for business development and the management of design and construction projects for port and marine facilities in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam. He will be based in Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Oakland office.
FSL Sells Stake in Torm
FSL Trust Management has sold its entire shareholding in Denmark-based Torm, the company announced Friday. The sale of over 18 million shares generated $2.63 million for FSL. FSL gained $1.71 million from the initial investment in the shipping company, which was part of a restructuring of nonperforming bareboat contracts in 2012. The gain will be listed in FSL's first quarter accounts. FSL performed the disposal during a short term spike in Torm share prices between January 21 and January 25.

Shipbuilding and repair group Zamakona Yards reports it has once again received the Achilles FPAL Assessment Certificate. The certificate indicates that industry group Achilles has approved Zamakona following an evaluation of its service in terms of quality, health, safety, environment, competence and training. Achilles FPAL aims to identify, evaluate and prequalify suppliers on behalf of the main actors in the oil and gas market.
First of Six PSVs Delivered to Vroon
VOS Pace, the first of six PX121-type platform supply vessels designed by ULSTEIN, was delivered to Netherlands based shipowner Vroon Offshore Services on February 5, 2015. Asia-Europe Container Freight Rates Fall 8.3%
Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell 8.3 percent to $1,057 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the second consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route.
