US Warship Heading for Black Sea
The Navy informs that the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer 'USS Truxtun' (DDG 103) has departed Souda Bay, Greece, en route to conduct combined training and theater security cooperation engagements in the Black Sea with Romanian and Bulgarian Naval forces. The visit of the warship to waters in the vicinity of the troubled Ukraine/Crimea region was scheduled in advance the Navy explains in a news release.
Truxtun, with a crew of approximately 300 Sailors, is currently on a scheduled deployment as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
