The Ferguson Group, a provider of offshore containers, baskets, tanks, offshore accommodation and workspaces, launched the fully classed ABS +A1 barge ASV Pioneer in 2011. The group said ASV Pioneer is able to meet the needs of offshore oil, gas and renewables, with the challenges of remote locations and salvage operations.

Since its inception, the ASV Pioneer has worked in the North Sea and Mediterranean, with interest for future contracts around West Africa, South America, Baltic, Arabian Gulf and the North Sea.

The vessel has a large and adaptable free deck space of 1,100m2, with a high load bearing capacity of 15 metric tons/m2. It can be used for heavy maintenance project loads, cranes, A frames, cable lay carousels, a grouting plant, diving spreads, oil spill control equipment, winches and accommodation, with grillage in place to facilitate individual project needs and rapid deployment.

The ASV Pioneer has 2.7 MW generation capability with 0.9MW backup. Fresh and grey water tanks plus an onboard sewage treatment plant enable extended periods on deployment, while navigation, computer and communication systems have all been incorporated.

Ferguson Group’s accommodation modules are configured to provide a 120 POB DNV 2.7-1 A60 build complex, which is easily reconfigured. This includes offices, meeting and communication rooms, galley, recreation room, mess, sauna, medic suite, locker and changing rooms, plus laundry . Each module comes with its own individually controlled air conditioning unit, plus there is a central system for the open plan areas.

The ASV Pioneer has an eight-point mooring system comprising four double drum mooring winches c/w spooling devices and independent drum operation. The 8 x 7 metric ton Delta flipper anchors provide rapid penetration into different soil conditions and ease of movement when in place.

For safety, there are fire, smoke and gas detection main control and alarm systems, plus a public address system. The two fully enclosed lifeboats and a rescue boat are davit launched.
