Poseidon Meets Substantial Water Needs
Large offshore vessels and drilling platforms have atypical water demands. Daily personal use often pales in comparison to shipboard and production operation needs. FCI Watermakers' high-output Poseidon+ produces 54–103m3/14,265–27,210 gallons of fresh, pure water per day.
Engineered and manufactured in the U.S., the Poseidon+ is constructed to run non-stop, 24/7, and its components are chosen specifically for their reliability and resultant ease-of-mind, according FCI.
FCI's Poseidon+ features a continuous-duty, 316 stainless steel, slow turning, high pressure pump to reduce wear on internal components. Its motor is direct-drive, so there are no belts to adjust, align or replace. The water maker has heavy-duty NEMA 4X automated control valves with manual overrides.
The Poseidon+ performs even in water conditions that are less than ideal, battling high particulate and varying salinity levels. It has an optional strainer that removes large particles, a 240 sq. ft. area pre-filter with pressure differential monitoring and alarming, and a media tank that filters down to 20 microns.
FCI's V4 Controller bears type approval certifications from ABS, GL, Lloyd's Register EMEA, Det Norske Veritas and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. With it, operation is simple using the 7" bridge certified hi-res HMI screen. It's mounted in a Class I Div II 316 stainless steel NEMA 4X Electrical enclosure.
Scheduling processes is easy and intuitive, FCI said. Once set up, the water making operation is fully automatic. Production can be monitored for pressure, flow, temperature and total dissolved solids.
Self-contained on a one-piece skid, the Poseidon+ is easy to install. The powder coated aluminum frame has forklift slots and optional lifting eyes. The unit comes with pipe supports to protect plumbing components and all connections are outboard-mounted.
The Poseidon+ uses only nonproprietary parts and disposables. This lowers long-term costs and widens maintenance options.
FCI Watermakers has a robust global network of authorized dealers and distributors in 60 countries across six continents. If a part is needed while at sea, it can be waiting for the ship's arrival in a distant port.
For 30 years, FCI Watermakers has only built water makers. Its units are carried on mega yachts, workboats, blue water ships and oil and gas platforms the world over. The company offers models with capacities from 200 to 265,000 gallons per day.
