Evergreen, Hanjin Enter Slot-Charter Agreement

Evergreen Marine Corporation has entered into a slot-charter agreement with Hanjin Shipping Company on the trade lane between the East Coasts of North and South America and another encompassing Asia, South Africa and South America. The US/South America service encompasses the ports of New York, Norfolk, Savannah and, in South America, Rio Grande, Itajai and Santos, all in Brazil. The trade route is know as the ECAS service and commenced with a northbound voyage by YM Santos, which has an estimated departure date of July 25 from Rio Grande. The second service, known as ESA, calls at the ports of Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian and Singapore in Asia; Durban and Capetown in South Africa and Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Santos in South America. This weekly service commences with the sailing of Ever General from Shanghai, scheduled for July 30. The agreements filed with the Federal Maritime Commission say that the parties may change the ports of call but that the geographical scope will remain as filed.
