Latest Global Deep-Sea Shipbuilding Contract Round-Up

Far East shipbuilders scoop the pool of latest big ship newbuilding orders reports Clarkson Hellas in their latest Weekly  S+P Bulletin.

Bulk carriers
This week Clarkson Hellas say that Bocimar has announced an order for two firm 206,000 DWT Newcastlemax and one firm 180,000 DWT Capesize at Imabari, with delivery of all three vessels in 2016.

Also at Imabari, Wisdom Marine announced an order for two firm 81,000 DWT Kamsarmax. Pricing is understood to be in the region USD 33-Millionper vessel with delivery in 2016. Wisdom also declared an option for the third in a series of 55,000 DWT Supramax at Kawasaki Shipbuilding, with delivery in 2015.

Additionally, Bocimar announced the declaration of two further options for 36,000 DWT Handysize at Weihai Samjin, taking the total series to twelve vessels with delivery of the latest two in 2015.

Tankships
Starting with the largest sizes Clarkson Hellas report that clients of Metrostar Management have declared options for the 5th and 6th in a series of 300,000 DWT VLCCs at HHI, with delivery in end 2016 / early 2017.

In the same sector, clients of Capital Ship Management are understood to have ordered two firm 300,000 DWT VLCCs at DSME, with delivery of both vessels due in 2016.

In the specialised market, Stream Tankers have extended their series of 19,900 DWT stainless tankers at Fukuoka / Shitanoe. The declaration of two additional options takes the series to four firm vessels, with two further options remaining. Delivery of the latest vessels is planned for 2016.

Container ships
Just one order to report in the container market COSCO announcing an order for five firm 9,400 TEU container vessels at Jiangnan Changxing Heavy, with delivery in 2016 and 2017.

Car carriers
In other markets Clarkson Hellas note Wallenius Lines as having declared two further options for 8,000 CEU PCTCs at Tianjin Xingang. This takes the series to four vessels with delivery of the latest in April and October 2016.
