Port of Leixoes Orders Pilot Boat from Safehaven

 Irish boat builder Safehaven Marine said it has signed contracts with the Port of Leixoes in Portugal to supply a 48-foot pilot boat due for delivery in 2019.

The vessel will be the 15th Interceptor 48 Pilot supplied to ports worldwide and the builder’s 39th pilot boat overall.

The Interceptor 48 is 15 meters long overall, with a 4.4-meter beam and 17,200-kilogram displacement.
According to the builder’s website, the Interceptor 48 is typically powered by twin Volvo D12/13 500-/550-horsepower engines and twin Disc 5114 or SC Quick shift gearboxes providing the vessel with an operational speed of 24-26 knots.
