The Project will be supplied with natural gas from a project specific offshore floating LNG storage, regasification import facility to be installed by Hi-Load. When completed the FPP will be the World’s largest single barge mounted power plant. Waller Marine will also act as Owner’s Engineer for Vires during the vessel’s construction and installation at site. Construction of the floating generation facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016.
“[This project] will supply the Philippines with clean, sustainable and competitive electrical power. This project represents the latest Floating Power Plant in a series of designs that the Company is presently undertaking including large, LNG supplied, combined cycle facilities up to 800 MW,” said Mr. McKillop, Vice President, Engineering of Waller Marine.
Vires Energy, with headquarters in Manila is the owner and operator of the facility. Vires plans to replicate this concept in other locations around the World once in operation.
