FKAB Designs Dredger with Nupas-Cadmatic

August 15, 2012

FKAB secured a contract for the design of a 2,400m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for the Taiwanese Kaohsiung Harbour Authority which will be built at Taiwan’s Ching Fu Shipyard. FKAB Sweden performed basic drawings, FKAB China office will carry out detail and production design with Nupas-Cadmatic.

Even though FKAB has had Nupas-Cadmatic licenses for a couple of years, they were all used in the Dalian office. Now the Shanghai office will use the licenses for the complete design and production engineering of the dredger. FKAB has chosen Nupas-Cadmatic for the job for its easy to learn and intelligent software. Combined with the open interface with other systems and the advantages of Nupas-Cadmatic’s eBrowser they expect to save engineering hours in the development and production. Particularly in this case, where the shipyard is using Nupas-Cadmatic as well. Since FKAB will carry out all the design and production engineering for the dual class BV & CR dredger, they will extensively use the 3D modeling and production information advantages of Nupas-Cadmatic.
