Navis Names Simon Doughty as GM, VP APAC

Navis, the terminal operating systems (TOS) provider and part of Cargotec, has announced the appointment of maritime industry veteran Simon Doughty as the General Manager and Vice President for the APAC region.

Doughty had previously served as the CEO of Hong Kong based Wallem Group and brings over 30 years’ experience in international business management, leading transportation organizations in Asia, the Americas, Middle East and Europe.

Doughty has a proven track record of driving top and bottom line growth through efficient operations, work processes and technology in the maritime industry and has had experience in supporting the complete lifecycle of the vessel from newbuilding to end-of-life recycling guidance.

“Peak performance and improved efficiency across the maritime industry through the adoption of new technologies and automation is the next big shake up in the sector and Navis is well positioned to take advantage of this with proven technological innovation,” said Simon Doughty, General Manager and Vice President of APAC, Navis.

“I’m excited to lend my experience and connections in the Asia-Pacific region and to help plan and execute the strategy to help grow the business in this area,” he added.

Along with the appointment of Doughty, Mark Welles, who previously held this title, will move to the strategic role of VP Global Partnerships where he will play an active role in maintaining key global partnerships and will work closely with regionally based GTOs and general managers in the region. Welles will continue to play an active role during the transition period with Doughty and on an ongoing basis with certain customers.
