Ulstein Painting SOV Windea TBN
Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Ulstein is currently carrying out the paint work on Bernhard Schulte’s new service operation vessel (SOV), the 'Windea TBN'.The SOV, which was launched on 15 October 2016, for the offshore wind industry was docked into our dock hall on 8 December 2019.The hull of the vessel arrived Ulstein Verft in September 2019 and in the last few months the work has been focused on accommodation, electrical installations, painting of technical areas and outfitting.After the hull had been towed into the dock hall, the exterior paint work started, while the interior work continues.This will be Bernhard Schulte's third vessel which has been designed and constructed by Ulstein.
DEME Unveils First SOV for Offshore Wind
Belgium-based offshore wind installation specialist Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV (DEME) has started building its first service operation vessel (SOV), which will be chartered by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) for work at three Belgian offshore wind farms (OWF).Concepted by DEME and further designed in close cooperation with Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam and Marin , this innovative vessel significantly improves safety, comfort and workability for wind farm technicians even in the roughest sea conditions. Seafast Marine Names New RSV
Seafast Marine has named its renewables service vessel (RSV) Isle of Jura at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in The Netherlands.Isle of Jura is a newbuild vessel, constructed at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, and is the second vessel built to a new Damen Renewables Service Vessel design.The RSV, according to Seafast Marine, is for use in the offshore and onshore wind industries. As a business based in Ross-shire in Scotland, Seafast Marine was happy to see it painted in the colors of the country’s Saint Andrew's flag.The Damen RSV 3315, evolved from the Multi Cat, is a powerful multi-purpose working vessel, designed to work in shallow as well as deeper waters. It features four azimuth thrusters, a DP2 4-point mooring system, two large cranes, hydraulic shark jaws and an AHT winch.
OFS Sector Expected to Take a Hit
Lower oil prices will push the global oilfield services (OFS) sector into a recession in 2020 after three successive years of growth, according to Rystad Energy.In a new sector outlook update, Audun Martinsen, head of oilfield services research at Rystad Energy, forecasts a 4% decline in global oilfield service revenue if oil prices stay flat next year.“Lower oil prices call for negative growth in the service market in 2020,” says Martinsen. “For suppliers, this means that a three-year growth story will come to an end regardless of which market segment you look at.”The service market will likely achieve a 2% growth in 2019, to $647 billion.
Oilfield Services Pricing Rises
Oilfield services companies are in bullish mode. They are now able to raise prices for their products and services, after several years of gloom.“Oil and gas investments are on the rise, and so too is the pricing power of service companies. After losing pricing power in 2015 and 2016, oilfield service companies have since regained some of the lost ground, thanks first and foremost to industry consolidation among players that has concentrated the market over the past couple of years,” said Audun Martinsen, head of oilfield service research at Rystad Energy.“Pricing power is likely to be further strengthened within the service industry…
Edda Accommodation CEO Retires
Edda Accommodation, a specialized provider of offshore accommodation service vessels, has announced that Johan Rokstad retired as CEO.The managing director role of Edda Accommodation is now transferred to Kenneth Walland, CEO of Østensjø Rederi.Rokstad started his career in Østensjø Rederi as captain of Østensjø’s supply vessels and has been with Østensjø for 40 years, of which 18 of them as CEO (from 1998-2016). In recent years, Rokstad has worked closely with the segment “accommodation” and the hotel ship Edda Fides.In 2016 Edda Accommodation was demerged to its own management company, and Rokstad has since been the CEO of the company."This is a planned departure from the company.
New COSCO Service Between UK, Europe, Russia
Chinese state-owned shipping and logistics services supplier company COSCO Shipping Lines announced a new COSCO feeder service from St Petersburg, Russia will begin calling at DP World Southampton."COSCO is to introduce a new weekly call at DP World Southampton, as part of a rotation including St Petersburg, Russia; Kotka, Finland; Southampton, UK; and Rotterdam, Netherlands," said a press release.The news comes after COSCO confirmed in February that DP World Southampton will be a permanent call on its feeder service. The MV Alexander B operated by COSCO shipping, is scheduled to call at DP World Southampton on 27th March.“Traditionally it is the ports on the east coast of the UK that serve Russia and the Baltics.
