Seatrium Adds Heavy Lift Vessel to Project Schedule

Seatrium has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Japan-based Penta-Ocean Construction (POC) to carry out early engineering work for a 5,000t fully-revolving heavy lift vessel project for the Japan wind market.Subject to the final investment decision by POC, the full EPC contract award is expected in 1Q 2025.POC owns a range of self-propelling trailing suction hopper and cutter suction dredgers for marine construction works as well as two turbine installation vessels equipped with a 800t and a 1,600t lifting capacity crane respectively.

Seatrium Secures Two CCS Retrofits

Seatrium has secured multiple contracts for repairs and upgrades, with a total value of S$100 million ($760 million) from various long-standing partners and regular customers.The projects will be completed by Q12025 and include carbon capture and storage (CCS) retrofits, major repairs on yachts, cruise ships, LNG carriers, offshore vessels, tankers as well as damage repairs.Year to date, Seatrium has secured two CCS retrofit projects. Announced earlier this year, the first project is for Solvang ASA, Norway, involving the ethylene carrier Clipper Eris which is scheduled for November 2024.

Shell Authorizes Construction Work on Manatee Gas Field

Shell has authorized contractor McDermott International to start engineering work on its Manatee gas field development project off Trinidad and Tobago's east coast, the contractor disclosed on Tuesday.Trinidad is Latin America's largest LNG exporter, but its flagship Atlantic LNG project and its petrochemical plants have been operating at reduced capacity due to a shortage of natural gas.McDermott said it got the green light to proceed on an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract pending an investment decision.

DNV Grants Approval for Liquid Hydrogen Cargo Containment System

CB&I, McDermott's storage business, has received Approval in Principle (AiP) for its design of a liquid hydrogen (LH2) cargo containment system from DNV.CB&I collaborated with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited to provide safe LH2 shipping solutions that enable hydrogen energy supply chains using gas carriers.The containment system design is based on CB&I's proven vacuum-insulated spherical technology for onshore LH2 storage. CB&I has designed and constructed more than 130 large, field-erected LH2 storage tanks worldwide over the past 60 years.

Royal IHC Hands Over Converted Amazon J-Lay Vessel to McDermott

Dutch maritime equipment and technology firm Royal IHC has handed over the converted J-lay vessel Amazon to McDermott International.Royal IHC said: "For this project, Royal IHC has converted Amazon into the modern and state-of-the-art J-lay vessel it is today. The patented system, with dynamic top tension capacity of 1.500 tonnes, can handle a variety of pipes, including normal flowlines, export lines, and pipe-in-pipe configurations, ranging in size from 4.5 to 25 inches in diameter and inline assemblies.

Oil and gas company Noreco on Thursday announced the sailaway of the new Tyra II process module (the "TEG"), 10.15am local time, from Batam, Indonesia and bound for the TotalEnergies-operated Tyra gas field redevelopment project in the Danish North Sea.The process module was fabricated at the McDermott yard in Batam by McDermott and TotalEnergies, and the heavy transport vessel GPO Emerald will sail the 17,000 metric tons unit to the Tyra field in the Danish North Sea, a voyage of 8,700 miles taking approximately one month.

Singapore's Keppel Offshore & Marine has, via its subsidiary Keppel Shipyard, secured contracts worth around S$250 million (~USD180,4 million) for the integration of two Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO).Keppel Offshore & Marine, which is set to merge with Sembcorp Marine, said Friday that the FPSO integration contracts were awarded by repeat customers, BW Offshore, and SBM Offshore.The first contract is between Keppel Shipyard and BW Offshore to carry out the integration work on a newbuild FPSO.

Heerema's Giant Crane Vessel Sleipnir to Install LNG BCM on INPEX's Ichthys Explorer Platform

Dutch offshore installation company Heerema Marine Contractors has been selected by Japan's INPEX as a contractor of choice for the transport and installation of the 4,800 metric ton Ichthys LNG Booster Compression Module (BCM), offshore W. Australia.The module will be installed on the Ichthys Explorer Central Processing Facility, located off the northwest coast of Western Australia, as part of the Ichthys LNG phase 2 development.Heerema will transport the BCM from the fabrication yard on Batam Island in Indonesia to the Ichthys field before installing it in a single lift.

Dutch FPSO specialist SBM Offshore has won contracts to perform Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for an FPSO for Exxon's Yellowtail development offshore Guyana. This will be SBM Offshore's largest-ever FPSO.The FEED contract for what will be Guyana's fourth FPSO, and fourth delivered by SBM Offshore, triggers the initial release of funds by ExxonMobil to begin FEED activities and secure a Fast4Ward hull. Australian oil and gas company BHP, working to develop the Trion field offshore Mexico, has hired DNV GL to verify that the new infrastructure built for the Trion project is compliant with local and global safety, as well as other requirements. BHP acquired the Trion asset in Mexico’s first-ever Deepwater Bid Round in 2016. The Trion field encompasses an area of 1,285 square kilometers and is located in the deep waters of the Perdido belt.
