Petronas Wants Malaysia to be Regional LNG Bunkering Hub
Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas plans to introduce liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operations at the country from the second half of 2019.“As a major player in the LNG business, PETRONAS is well-positioned to support the strategic intent for Malaysia to become the regional LNG bunkering hub,” it said in the Petronas Activity Outlook 2019-2021 report."Efforts are now being put in place towards advocating LNG as the preferred marine fuel of choice. Royal Vopak Rraises Stake in Pakistan LNG Terminal
Dutch petroleum storage company Royal Vopak announced that it will acquire in total 44% in Elengy Terminal Pakistan Ltd (ETPL) in separate transactions with International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Engro Corporation Ltd (Engro Corporation). This includes the acquisition of a 29% share announced in July.ETPL's wholly owned subsidiary, Engro Elengy Terminal (Pvt) Ltd (EETPL) owns an LNG facility which is located in Port Qasim in Pakistan, adjacent to the Engro Vopak chemical terminal on the mainland side of the channel into Port Qasim.The facility has been in operation since 2015 and is the first LNG import facility in Pakistan.The facility consists of an LNG jetty including a 7.5 km high pressure gas pipeline.
Besix completes construction of Bahrain LNG Import Terminal
Brussels-headquartered contracting giant Besix has completed the design and construction of Bahrain Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Import Terminal in Muharraq Island.The Bahrain LNG Import Terminal forms a vital part of the energy infrastructure of Bahrain as it provides the country with a secure supply of liquified natural gas to meet the country’s growth in demand for natural gas in order to fuel large industrial projects, to generate power and water, and for enhanced oil recovery.The scope of work included the design and construction of an LNG jetty constructed on drilled and grouted pin piles with a maximum length of 55 metres, located approximately 5km offshore and with a seabed level at -18 metres.
BAM Completes LNG Terminal in Aqaba, Jordan
BAM International has completed its €65 million project to construct the Aqaba LNG terminal for Aqaba Development Corp. (ADC). The operating company of Royal BAM Group handed over the project on 23 June, two months ahead of schedule. The LNG terminal forms part of ADC’s plan for developing Aqaba’s energy ports. The government has tasked ADC to develop Jordan’s energy intake capabilities to ensure a consistent supply of energy. In partnership with sister company BAM Contractors from Ireland and Jordan’s engineering company MAG, BAM International designed, built and commissioned an LNG jetty with approach trestle, including the mechanical, engineering and piping services, buildings, infrastructure works and tug jetty berth for attending tugs within 17 months.
Esso Highlands PNG LNG Project on Track
Esso Highlands Limited (EHL) operator of the PNG (Papua New Guinea) LNG Project report project capacity increased by 5%. The increase has been achieved through system-wide optimisations as well as some minor modifications. Progress is being achieved across all parts of the project. Drilling is under way on two production wells, the offshore pipeline has been completed, all major process equipment for the LNG plant and all pipe rack modules on the LNG jetty have been installed, all piling is complete and foundations are under way at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant. The Project remains on track to achieve start-up in 2014.The estimated Project cost has increased from $15.7 billion to $19 billion (excluding Port Moresby administration facilities and shipping).
Offshore DLG Chartered Out by Solstad Offshore
Substantial charter agreement for Solstad's offshore Derrick Lay Barge (DLB) "Norce Endeavour" by Australia's Leighton Contractors. DLB "Norce Endeavour" will work at the Gorgon LNG Jetty and Marine Structures on Barrow Island, Western Australia. Solstad will also provide project management and engineering to support the DLB scope of works and operation from Solstad's offices in Singapore and Perth, Western Australia. The mobilisation of Norce Endeavour will start in October 2012 after completion of existing charter. The contract value is confidential between the parties.
Strategic Marine Contract, Leighton-Saipem Consortium Vessels
Strategic Marine won the contract to build four new workboats for Leighton-Saipem Consortium for use by the Chevron operated Gorgon Project. The vessels will be built at the company's Henderson Shipyards and used to transport workers to and from construction barges operating at Barrow Island as part of the LNG jetty and marine structure contract for the Gorgon Project. Strategic Marine Chief Marketing Officer Terry O’Connor said these vessels would be the first delivered under the new contract with Leighton-Saipem Consortium. The new workboats will each carry 12 passengers and will be delivered this year. The Gorgon Project is operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (approximately 47 percent)…
