CMC Installed on Ocean Blackhawk Drillship
ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore (STEHMO) installed a NOV crown mounted compensator (CMC) on Diamond Offshore’s Ocean Blackhawk drillship.The 215-metric-ton passive heave compensator was fully assembled and lifted on the top of the derrick on May 22, 2019. Carol Crane Rigging & Lifting Technology and Mammoet supported STEHMO with completing the engineered lift. GustoMSC Delivers Chela to Maersk Drilling
GustoMSC, the developer of the Chela crane, has transferred the multi-functional arm to Danish offshore driller Maersk Drilling.GustoMSC, which designs and engineers solutions for mobile offshore units, said in a press release that Maersk Drilling is the first offshore company which is going to work with Chela.Since its introduction in 2016, GustoMSC’s Chela has grown from the drawing board into a piece of equipment that has made all expectations come true.In presence of and with input from involved parties Maersk Drilling, AkerBP, JB systems and Breman Factory, the FAT test was successfully performed showing Chela’s capabilities and facilitating a fast-track start-up for Maersk.
Keppel Delivers Jack-up Rig to Grupo R
Singapore's Keppel FELS has delivered the jackup rig, Cantarell IV, to Grupo R with a perfect safety record.The wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) said that as part of the deal, Grupo R has entered into a sale and leaseback agreement with FELS Asset, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel O&M.FELS Asset will purchase the rig from Grupo R for US$179m which is equivalent to the balance contract value of the rig. Cantarell IV will be leased back to Grupo R on a bareboat charter at competitive day rates over five years. Foresight Takes Delivery of New Jackup Drilling Rig
London-based international law firm Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) advised Foresight Group of Dubai on the delivery arrangements relating to a LeTourneau Super 116E jackup drilling rig named “VIVEKANAND 3”.The rig was constructed in China by Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Dalian Shipyard (“Cosco Dalian”) and is one of three jackup rigs constructed, delivered and employed over the last three years; a great achievement given the current challenges faced by the offshore drilling market.VIVEKANAND 3 will be deployed on charter to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (“ADNOC”) and is the last of the three rigs built for Foresight by Cosco Dalian.

Lamprell Gets LOI to Build Jackup Pair
Lamprell announced it has received a letter of intent (LOI) from International Maritime Industries Company (IMI), the Saudi maritime joint venture in which Lamprell is a partner, confirming the intent to award Lamprell the contract for the construction and delivery of two jackup drilling units.The rigs will be built collaboratively between the IMI and Lamprell for delivery to IMI's end client.
