Penguin Marks Milestone Crewboat Delivery
Singaporean shipbuilder Penguin International Limited last week held a ceremony marking the delivery of a milestone vessel.The 40-meter aluminum crewboat, Pelican Breeze, is noteworthy for being Penguin's 100th newbuild vessel powered by Cat C32 ACERT main propulsion engines and Cat C4.4 auxiliary generators."Back in 2014, almost two decades after we built our first ship, we took our first step with Caterpillar and Tractors Singapore with our first Cat C32-powered vessel, which was only our 95th newbuild at the time," said Penguin's managing director, James Tham.

U.S. Gulf of Mexico: Laborde Marine Expands Offshore Vessel Fleet
New Orleans-based Laborde Marine said Thursday it had acquired two 240-foot (73.15m) deepwater DP-2 offshore supply vessels from L&M Botruc Rental, Inc. and has expanded its fleet of managed vessels. The company said that SOLAS-certified Shelley Lab and Gibson Lab vessels would support deepwater activities in the Gulf of Mexico.One of the vessels is currently operating under contract, while the other is completing routine shipyard inspections and maintenance prior to becoming available for energy industry support later this month.

Turkish Shipyard to Build Esvagt's 'Green' SOV Bound for Ørsted's Offshore Wind Farm
Danish offshore vessel owner Esvagt and its compatriot Ørsted earlier in April announced an investment in what they said would be the world’s first service operation vessel (SOV) that can operate on green fuels. On Friday, April 29, Turkish Cemre shipyard said it had won the contract to build the SOV.The design of the vessel has been developed by the Norwegian design company HAV Design in cooperation with ESVAGT, and the vessel will be the third turn-key project Cemre will build for Esvagt.
Centus Marine Orders Fast Crew Boat from Strategic Marine
Malaysian offshore supply vessel operator Centus Marine has ordered a 40 meter Fast Crew Boat from Strategic Marine.Delivery is scheduled for January 2021 at Strategic Marine’s Singapore yard, and the vessel will serve the Malaysian offshore oil and gas sector.The vessel will be powered by three Caterpillar C32 engines driving fixed pitch propellers. According to the shipbuilder, the vessel's station-keeping and maneuvering capability is further enhanced by a tunnel thruster installed at the bow.

A pair of hybrid-electric crew transfer vessels (CTV) being built for Danish operator MHO&Co will be powered by propulsion systems manufacturer Volvo Penta and electrification specialist Danfoss Editron.The 35-meter CTVs were designed by MHO&Co in cooperation with Incat Crowther in the U.K. and Australia and are being constructed at the Afai Southern Shipyard in China for delivery in 2021.Volvo Penta marine gensets will help power these vessels – the electric propulsion power for the driveline will come from five variable speed Volvo D8 gensets.

Isle of Wight shipbuilder Wight Shipyard Co (WSC) has been contracted by CWind to build the world’s first hybrid surface effect crew transfer vessel, to service the Borssele 1 and 2 offshore windfarms located 23 kilometers off the Dutch coast.CWind’s long-term charter contract agreement with Ørsted, which operates the Borssele 1 and 2 offshore windfarms, will start in mid-2020.
