MarineSafety Provides Training For LNG Carriers

September 4, 2001

MarineSafety International (MSI) provided simulator-based training for ships' officers, pilots, tug masters, and docking masters maneuvering LNG carriers in the Savannah River.

MSI prepared a precision geographic/bathymetric/visual database of the operating area and generated response models for specified classes of LNG tankers. The three-day training courses included the employment of tractor tugs escorting LNG ships in addition to docking and undocking the vessels under various environmental conditions. The training courses, which began this summer, were developed and conducted at MSI's Newport, Rhode Island facility.
