The maintenance of passenger ferry Victoria I at Finland’s largest ship repair yard, a part of BLRT Grupp, has been finished.

Scheduled maintenance of Victoria I was carried out within six days at Turku Repair Yard’s dry dock. “The success of such projects, when quality maintenance has to be executed within shortest possible time, is ensured by smooth cooperation of BLRT Grupp and ship owner teams and partners. We are proud that our experience gives Tallink Grupp the confidence to place repair works with us,” said Vesa Marttinen, the Managing Director of Turku Repair Yard.

Victoria I underwent dock repairs in order to align vessel’s mechanisms and parts with the requirements of classification society Bureau Veritas. It is already ten years since the ferry started operating, so the scope of maintenance works it underwent was extensive.

The works comprised the repair of steering gear, propellers and Cedervall propulsion shaft seals. Underwater hull was cleaned and coated. Also, vessel’s bow visor, stern ramp and sea valves were repaired.

All works were completed on time. „We have been working with Turku Repair Yard for several years, and we are content with their combined ability to meet the deadlines and provide good work quality,” said Pavel Kondrashov, the senior tehnical superintendent of Tallink Grupp.

Turku Repair Yard is a ship repair yard located in Naantali (Finland). It operates one of the biggest dry docks (265m x 70m x 7,9m) in the Baltic Sea region and one floating dock. Value to the shipping companies is built with scheduled and unscheduled dry-dockings, 24/7 voyage repairs around North-Europe as well as Conversions and Eco-retrofits. The yard works as part of BLRT Grupp, one of the biggest industrial holdings in the Baltic States. In cooperation with the holding’s other ship repair yards – Tallinn Shipyard in Estonia and Western Shiprepair in Lithuania – the yard is fully prepared to perform maintenance and investment project works on all vessels operating in the Baltic Sea. BLRT Grupp offers a complete range of quality services through all phases of a vessel’s lifespan, from design and fabrication through to repair and recycling.

Passenger ferry Victoria I was built in 2004 for the Estonian company Tallink Grupp. It operates on Tallinn-Stockholm route.
