Tallink Cruise Ship Receives Maintenance at BLRT Yard
The maintenance of passenger ferry Victoria I at Finland’s largest ship repair yard, a part of BLRT Grupp, has been finished.
Scheduled maintenance of Victoria I was carried out within six days at Turku Repair Yard’s dry dock. “The success of such projects, when quality maintenance has to be executed within shortest possible time, is ensured by smooth cooperation of BLRT Grupp and ship owner teams and partners. We are proud that our experience gives Tallink Grupp the confidence to place repair works with us,” said Vesa Marttinen, the Managing Director of Turku Repair Yard.
Victoria I underwent dock repairs in order to align vessel’s mechanisms and parts with the requirements of classification society Bureau Veritas. It is already ten years since the ferry started operating, so the scope of maintenance works it underwent was extensive.
The works comprised the repair of steering gear, propellers and Cedervall propulsion shaft seals. Underwater hull was cleaned and coated. Also, vessel’s bow visor, stern ramp and sea valves were repaired.
All works were completed on time. „We have been working with Turku Repair Yard for several years, and we are content with their combined ability to meet the deadlines and provide good work quality,” said Pavel Kondrashov, the senior tehnical superintendent of Tallink Grupp.
Turku Repair Yard is a ship repair yard located in Naantali (Finland). It operates one of the biggest dry docks (265m x 70m x 7,9m) in the Baltic Sea region and one floating dock.
