Expro Recognized for Well Intervention Technology

March 20, 2012

International oilfield services company Expro has won the Offshore Achievement Innovator Award in recognition of its ground-breaking AX-S subsea well intervention technology.

The Innovator Award, which was presented at a ceremony in Aberdeen on 15 March, recognizes excellence in innovative technological solutions developed in the UK for the offshore energy sector.

“Subsea and deepwater well intervention are increasingly important, as operators look to extend reservoir life and maximize production,” said David Shand, AX-S managing director. Fundamentally AX-S reduces risk, increases recovery, improves safety and minimizes environmental impact to subsea well operators worldwide. After seven years of dedication to the development of AX-S, it is extremely rewarding to be recognized by the industry for our efforts.”

AX-S is a remotely-operated, cost-effective intervention system, operated from a mid-sized construction vessel. AX-S will change the way in which oil and gas companies can access and intervene on their subsea well assets at any water depth down to 10,000 feet.

The award comes only five months after the company signed its first long-term frame agreement with Total E&P UK Ltd. to further advance the technology.
