New Rexroth Facility Offers Hydraulics Training

November 20, 2013

Training for hydraulics and controls technologies used in marine, offshore and industrial applications is now available through the newly opened Rexroth Technology and Service Center at 10305 Round Up Lane in Houston, Texas.

Comprehensive, five-day classroom courses will be offered by qualified Bosch Rexroth experts on the Principles of Hydraulics (POH) covering fluid flow dynamics, controls, pumps, valves, motors schematics, maintenance and more. Customized training courses and on-site training are also available depending on customer needs.

POH classroom courses are designed for new or untrained personnel and anyone responsible for hydraulic system operation, design and modification where a thorough understanding of hydraulics physics and devices is critical.

Courses include principles and technologies related to fluid flow and pressure, controls, valves and actuators, as well as set-up, maintenance and circuit design and function. Knowledge is reinforced with hands-on lab exercises with a focus on marine and offshore applications, including winch and windlass drives and controls; cranes and loaders; bow/stern thruster drives and controls; ships steering pumps; deck mating – complete hydraulic systems to protect deck elements; heave compensation – active and passive, linear and rotary solutions; drilling and well intervention systems and dredging applications, like cutter head drive.

The classroom setting is designed to provide a focused, distraction-free environment with class size limited to 12 students to ensure individualized attention. The class lab is fully equipped with a test stand and all accessories. A Rexroth DS4 Hydraulic Training System is employed to give a hands-on demonstration of concepts using working components and circuits.

Classroom courses are held in the 28,080 square-foot Rexroth Technology and Service Center, which serves as a hub of hydraulics excellence for the marine and offshore industries. The facility is staffed and equipped with resources to develop custom drive and control solutions and offer technical and product support.

Bosch Rexroth also offers on-site training as an alternative where logistics or specific principles or procedures need to be applied at a customer’s site.

In addition to Houston, Bosch Rexroth also offers hydraulics training at facilities located in Bethlehem, Pa.; Fountain Inn, S.C.; Lake Zurich, Ill.; Columbus, Ohio; and Dallas, Texas.
