DSIC Earns Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation
Decision Sciences International Corporation (DSIC), an advanced technology provider of security and detection systems, today announced it has earned U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) SAFETY (Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies) Act Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation for its award-winning Multi-Mode Passive Detection System (MMPDS).
The SAFETY Act is a federal law passed by the U.S. Congress to facilitate and promote the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies that can deter, defend against, identify, respond to or mitigate an act of terrorism and save lives.
DSIC describes MMPDS as a detection system that safely and efficiently protects ports, borders and critical infrastructure from nuclear, radiological, explosive and other contraband threats. The passive scanning technology is capable of detecting, identifying and locating in 3-D, shielded and unshielded threats in all types of vehicles, shipping and air cargo containers and also protecting critical infrastructure.
DSIC received the DHS SAFETY Act Developmental Testing and Evaluation recognition on April 18, 2014. The SAFETY Act Designation provides important liability protections to DSIC as well as customers and suppliers in the event of a covered act of terrorism.
