November 9, 2012

Kotug  International will shortly be putting two new Damen Azimuth Tractor Drive Tugs 2412 into operation into the German Port of Hamburg.

These tugs were ordered by Elisabeth Ltd in Malta and are being chartered by the Kotug  Group.

Kotug  is a fast growing towage company expanding its innovative services to ports and terminals in Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven), West-Africa and Australia. Recently Kotug  started towage activities in the new German deep sea port Wilhelmshaven. Due to this growth in the German Ports and the increased size of their client’s vessels, KOTUG needed these additional tugs on short notice.

Damen’s short delivery time and quality were the key factors to choose for these strong and compact Azimuth Tractor tugs ‘ZP Bulldog’ and ‘ZP Boxer’. Damen Services arranged the transport from Vietnam to Rotterdam (The Netherlands), where they handed over the tugs in November in a turnkey operation.

After their arrival the tugs have been painted in the Kotug  colours, equipped and prepared to commence their towage activities in the port of Hamburg, around November 12th. The tugs have a length of 24 m, a width of 12 m, 5600 BHP and a bollard pull of 70 tons.
