At SMM today, a cooperation agreement was signed between DNV GL and Marorka. Under the cooperation, the companies will join forces to integrate DNV GL ECO Insight performance management portal with Marorka onboard data collection platform and decision support tools –thereby providing the customer with a unique and holistic approach to managing and improving the performance of their vessels.

“The integrated solution will allow customers to manage their complete fleets using the same dashboards and benchmarks for vessels – even if different data collection approaches are in place on some vessels”, comments Ole Skatka Jensen, CEO of Marorka. “Furthermore, the cooperation between DNV GL and Marorka will allow our common customers to take full advantage of DNV GL, Eco Insight and Marorka automatic data collection as well as real time data availability in Marorka Online”, he says.

Marorka has provided close to 400 systems to shipping companies world-wide and is a leading provider of automated data collection and decision support for energy management. DNV GL chose Marorka to be the preferred partner for Eco Insight automatic data collection on board, because of the vast experience Marorka has gained in this area over the last decade.

“The next frontier of optimisation for shipping companies lies in them increasing their use of advanced data collection and analysis. This cooperation between Marorka and DNV GL will let our customers maximise the investments they have already made by increasing the quality and transparency of their data - not only in their own vessels, but in chartered vessels within their fleet as well,” said Albrecht Grell, head of DNV GL’s Maritime Advisory division.

DNV GL introduced ECO Insight, a unique performance management portal to the shipping community at the SMM 2014 trade fair in Hamburg this week. Combined with the new Navigator Insight data collection and logging software, ECO Insight gives shipping companies a fast track to an effective performance management system. ECO Insight and Navigator Insight have each been extensively tested on some 80 vessels by 10 shipping companies across the globe and are in productive use now. Another 15 shipping companies have already signed up to use DNV GL’s performance management portal.
