“I welcome Mr. Long to Port Hedland and hope he enjoys the significant economic diversity of our town and indeed that of the Pilbara region during his visit,” Blanco said.
“Following on from last year’s North West Economic Forum that saw Le Viet Duyen, former-Consul General of Vietnam attend and also discuss the potential synergy with Vietnam’s emerging and Port Hedland’s diversifying economy, I am delighted that we are continuing to foster a good relationship with Vietnam.”
“Topics such as trade, tourism, education and agriculture were on the agenda at this morning’s introductory meeting as well as ways to further cooperation between local governments of both countries.”
“Then discussions with Mr. Long and our Elected Members and Senior Executive Team will further strengthen our relations with our neighboring emerging economies and offer an opportunity for the exchange of greater trade, investment and cultural awareness.”
“We are committed to diversifying our economy and exploring emerging industries in our region.”
"Education and other trade opportunities are areas we wish to further explore.”
“The Town is continuing to explore opportunities for future growth of our town and remains committed to key initiatives such as the development of the Lumsden Point Common User Facility and Boodarie Industrial Estate, which will ensure we continue to build a sustainable economy for our community.”
"Future cattle export industry to Vietnam with upgrade of Lumsden Point is a possibility and one we look forward to seeing come to fruition.”
The Consulate General of Vietnam is based in Perth and is responsible to promote the cooperation between Vietnam and the state of Western Australia and the Northern Territory in accordance with the agreements between the leaders of the two countries.
