Crowley Promotes Communications VP
Crowley Maritime Corporation has promoted Mark Miller to vice president, corporate and marketing communications, within Crowley’s corporate services group.
Miller directs all aspects of internal and external communications around the world for Crowley and its commercial subsidiaries. He, along with his team, is responsible for the companies’ brand development and protection; media relations and crisis communications; strategic development, execution and oversight of marketing communications, including advertising, website development, internet marketing, social media engagement, content marketing and digital and printed collateral.
He will remain based in Jacksonville and continue to report to Carl Fox senior vice president, corporate services.
“Mark has successfully developed a highly skilled team that consistently performs beyond expectations,” Fox said. “He has taken on increased responsibility over the past couple of years, particularly with the growth of internet marketing, content marketing and social media. Crowley’s image and reputation are stronger today, which is due in part to the work Mark and his team have done.”
Miller, who most recently served as Crowley’s director of corporate and marketing communications, joined the company in 1995 as manager, public relations and advertising, for Crowley’s liner services group. Over the years he assumed communications roles of increasing scope and responsibility for the entire corporation. Prior to joining Crowley he served as manager, public relations and advertising, for the Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort) and as a business reporter with the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville. Miller, who earned a Journalism degree from the University of Florida, is a board member of the Containerization and Intermodal Institute and the Transportation Marketing and Sales Association, and serves as a communications consultant with the public affairs working group of the American Maritime Partnership.
